Sunday Trivia (On Monday)
Well, after almost a week of an unreliable internet connection (gremlins seem to have had a hold of it), I am back for this Thanksgiving week Sunday Trivia. As we begin Thanksgiving week, we are giving thanks here for a much needed Saturday night rain (the official Prairie Hill rain gauge says we got 2.5 inches).
What is the traditional NFL game for Thanksgiving, and when did it start?

welcome to revgalpals david!
And to answer your question: Detroit Lions host a game and the Dallas Cowboys host a game. They started hosting in the 1960, but thanksgiving games go back to the 20's.
Side note :Every thanksgiving I can remember includes the cowboys game on with many relatives asleep on the couch from too much turkey day yummies!
Oh the Lions game came waaaaaaay before the Cowboys. It used to always be The Lions vs. The Packers until TV got involved. It just happened that it worked out this week that the rivalry will be renewed.
The Detroit Lions hosts the traditional Thanksgiving Day football game starting in 1934.
oh, welcome to the Revgal blog ring, Pastor David. and... I don't know the trivia today, so I'll be respectfully awaiting your answer...
GO [whoever is playing the Cowboys]! As for Detroit and Green Bay...GO Favre (he's on my fantasy football team). I don't care if he wins or not, just as long as he throws a few TD passes :)
NFL game, in TX? Surely you jest. It has always been TX-AM game that is the turkeyday game for anyone in TX
But since I live in upstate NY now, I don't get any of the the good turkeyday games. We watch the Macy's parade here
I've NO idea! But welcome to RevGals!
It is Detroit Lions verses the Packers and I am going to that game. Woo hoo! Go Lions!
Ummmmm.....yeah, I am clueless as to when it started. Ops!
GO LIONS!
Hi, David! Welcome to regvalpals and greetings from the prairies of North Dakota! Congratulations on Layla's arrival; how wonderful for you and Julia. Tell your parents hello for me. Have no clue about the football answer. Pax et lux.
Welcome to RG!
Sorry, but IMHO the real TG game is Aggies vs. Longhorns. :) Not anymore, but I'm a relic of those times.
Went to school & worked in Bryan/College STation and remember Brenham most fondly! How are the happy cows?
cpclergymama,
Thanks for stopping by, you were the first to get it mostly right.
David,
Yup, the Lions game is much older than the Dallas game.
Hal,
You got the game!
Diane,
Thanks - it seemed like a fun group to be a part of, mostly because of the many people I knew on it like you.
PastorEric,
I just haven't been able to get into the fantasy football thing - it sounds remarkably like having to do weekly homework.
Muthah,
Yeah, we're about 40 miles from College Station, so around here the Texas-A&M game is the Thanksgiving game.
Redheadrev-
Thanks for stopping by, and thanks for the welcome!
Annemarie -
Going to the game? Oh, I am so breaking the 10th commandment ... I covet your thanksgiving plans.
Prairiepastor -
Hey! I had heard that the draft to you to the hinterlands of ND, and that you were actually happy about it. Good for you! I certainly didn't expect to run into you online, but one never knows. I will certainly pass your greetings on to my folks - they are loving retirement and are in the middle of building a new home on the south end of Chattanooga.
Mary Beth,
The happy cows are great. If you know the area, we are located on 50 on your way to Brenham from College Station.
