Well, according to my notes from The History of Christianity, Dionysius of Alexandria, who was then Pope was the first to formally commemorate the events of Holy week. That would be around the middle of the 3rd century.
From what I have been reading I am leaning toward the 4th centry. I can not come up with a specific month or year.
I have been home sick this weekend, and do not have access to my church history notes.
However, would anyone like some gatorade?
Sick? On Palm Sunday weekend? Oh, you certainly have my sympathy. Get well soon - very soon. Take care of yourself. And yes - gatorade and a nap for me please.
